Indonesian Defence Minister meets PRIME Minister Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif called on Indonesian Defence Minister Lt Gen (retd) Syafrie Samsudin today.
Recalling his cordial meeting with The President of Indonesia, His Excellency Prabowo Subiantuo, on the sidelines of the G-8 Summit in Cairo, the Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to him.
The meeting discussed the deep historical, brotherly and friendly bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.
The Prime Minister said That Pakistan and Indonesia have longstanding friendly relations based on shared culture, religion and historical ties and both countries support each other at international fora.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further enhance its economic and strategic relations with Indonesia and bilateral cooperation in all areas including trade, defence and defence production.
During the meeting, the two leaders stressed the importance of enhancing multilateral bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called for further enhancing cooperation with Indonesia for investment in mutually beneficial projects.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the ongoing steps under the Defence Cooperation Agreement between Pakistan and Indonesia and the two leaders agreed to expedite the implementation of the agreement.
Lt Gen (Retd) Sefri Samsudeen conveyed the best wishes of His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, to Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan. He reiterated Indonesia’s desire to further strengthen defence ties with Pakistan and explore more opportunities for cooperation in various fields, especially in defence production.
